What granite epoxy flooring is
Epoxy is a two-part resin: a resin and a hardener that you mix on site, which then cure into one continuous solid surface bonded to your concrete. A granite-effect finish uses coloured flecks and pigment within that resin so the cured floor reads like speckled stone instead of a flat painted colour.
The practical difference from tiles or stone is that there are no joints and no grout lines. The floor is one piece from wall to wall, so there is nothing for dirt and water to sit in, and nothing to come loose later.
Who this is for
This product is for people who want to buy the material and do the work themselves, or have their own labour do it. You are buying flooring material, not an installation service.
- Homeowners doing one room at a time — a bedroom, a bathroom, a store room, a terrace under cover.
- Shop and office owners refreshing a tired floor without closing for a week of demolition.
- Builders and contractors who already do finishing work and want a resin floor in their offering.
- Workshops and garages that need a harder, easier-to-clean surface than bare concrete.
If you would rather not do the work, that is genuinely fine — we install floors as our main business and will quote your project properly.
What you get from a resin floor
These are the reasons people choose epoxy over bare concrete or tiles. How far each one goes on your floor depends on the system specified, the thickness applied, the preparation done and how the space is used — so treat them as the character of resin flooring, not as a performance guarantee.
- A seamless surface. No grout lines, no joints, nothing to scrub along.
- Easy cleaning. A continuous surface mops quickly and does not hold dirt in seams.
- A decorative finish. The granite effect looks deliberate and finished in a way bare concrete does not.
- Better wear resistance than bare concrete. Concrete dusts and stains; a cured resin surface does not, in normal use.
- Textured options for wet areas. Where a floor gets wet, a textured finish gives grip that smooth gloss will not.
What's included
Bucket contents
To be confirmed.
We have not published the component breakdown for this bucket yet. Rather than copy a generic epoxy kit list and risk telling you the wrong thing, we will confirm exactly what ships — components, quantities and whether any aggregate is included — when you order or ask.
Ask what is in the bucketWhat you may need separately
Exactly what else you need depends on the condition of your floor, which is why we would rather look at it than sell you a list. In almost every case you will need some of:
- A way to mechanically prepare the concrete (grinder with a suitable disc)
- Crack and hole filler for any defects
- Mixing drill and paddle, clean buckets, rollers, squeegee, spiked shoes
- Gloves, eye protection and a mask, plus ventilation
- Masking tape and sheeting to protect walls and skirting
Whether a separate primer or topcoat is required for this product is part of the specification we confirm with you.
Installing it, step by step
This is the shape of the job so you know what you are taking on. It is general guidance for resin floors, not this product's instructions — where the product's own data sheet differs, the data sheet wins every time.
Prepare the surface
Mechanically grind the concrete to open it up. This is the step that decides whether your floor lasts, and it is the step people skip.
Repair cracks and defects
Cut out and fill cracks, holes and spalled patches, then grind the repairs flat. Resin follows the shape underneath it, so anything you leave will show.
Clean off every trace of dust
Vacuum thoroughly, then go over it again. Resin will bond to concrete but it will not bond to the dust sitting on concrete.
Check the floor for moisture
Moisture rising up through a slab is the most common cause of a resin floor lifting months later. Ground floors and basements are the usual suspects.
Apply primer or base coat if the system needs it
Whether this product needs a separate primer is part of its specification. Ask us and we will confirm it for your floor.
Mix the resin properly
Mix the two parts to the ratio on the product, for the full mixing time, scraping the sides of the bucket. Badly mixed resin does not cure — it stays soft or tacky and there is no fixing it afterwards.
Apply the floor
Work in manageable bays, keep a wet edge, and do not stop in the middle of a room. Once mixed, the clock is running and you cannot pause.
Broadcast aggregate, if your finish uses it
Some finishes have aggregate or flake thrown into the wet resin for texture and grip. Whether that applies here depends on the finish you are building.
Let it cure properly
Keep people, pets, dust and water off it. Curing is chemistry, and cold or damp conditions slow it down.
Seal or topcoat if specified, then hand it back
Where the system includes a sealing or protective coat, that goes on last and sets how the floor wears and how glossy it looks.
Is this kit right for you?
We would rather sell you the right thing than sell you a bucket you end up fighting with. A resin floor succeeds or fails on things that have nothing to do with the resin itself: the state of the slab, how well it was prepared, moisture coming up from below, whether the mix was right, and the temperature and humidity on the day.
So be realistic about the job in front of you.
DIY is a fair bet when
- The area is small and you can finish it in one session
- The concrete is sound, dry and reasonably flat
- You can get hold of a grinder and actually prepare the surface
- You are comfortable working to a mix ratio and a clock
- A hand-made result with some character is what you want
Call us instead when
- The floor is large, commercial, or has to look showroom-flat
- There is damp, or the slab is cracked or moving
- The space cannot be closed for the preparation and curing
- Forklifts, chemicals or heavy loads are involved
- It is a floor you cannot afford to get wrong
