A commercial city, and the floors reflect it

Lahore sends us a different mix of work than the twin cities do. Here the majority of enquiries are commercial and the brief is almost always two things at once: the floor has to look expensive to a customer walking in, and it has to survive being walked across a few thousand times a week. That combination is what resin does well, and it is also where a cheap specification shows itself fastest.

Because the Lahore team works out of the city itself, inspections in Lahore are usually quick to arrange, and central Punjab work is close enough to schedule without the planning a distant mobilisation needs.

What we install here most often

• Showrooms and retail along the main commercial roads — large, flat, joint-free floors, usually satin rather than full gloss because satin hides the micro-scratching that heavy footfall causes.
• Restaurants and cafes — decorative out front, slip-resistant and easy to wash down in the kitchen and service areas, with coving where the floor meets the wall.
• Wedding and event halls — large-area floors that take chair and table movement, trolleys and crowds, and that can be cleaned quickly between functions.
• Hospitals and clinics — seamless, hygienic, easy-to-sterilise surfaces suitable for clinical environments, with no grout lines anywhere for dirt to collect.
• Textile and light manufacturing units around the industrial estates — systems specified around the actual loads, trolley and forklift traffic and the specific chemicals in use, not a generic industrial coating.
• Large residential projects — metallic, marble-effect and 3D floors in houses where the client wants something that is not tile or marble.

Two local conditions we plan around

Heat and monsoon humidity narrow the working window

Lahore summers and the monsoon months are genuinely difficult conditions for resin. Two things happen. High ambient temperature shortens the pot life of a mixed system, which means less working time between mixing and the material starting to set, so large pours have to be planned and staffed properly rather than rushed. High humidity affects the surface as it cures and, in the worst case, can leave a cloudy or blushed finish on a clear coat.

None of that makes summer installation impossible. It means we work to the right times of day, control ventilation, size the pours to the conditions and, for clear decorative coats, sometimes recommend shifting the programme by a few days rather than fighting the weather. If we think the conditions will compromise the finish, we will tell you and reschedule instead of pouring and hoping.

Older buildings and existing tiled floors

A lot of Lahore commercial space is in older buildings that already have a tiled or terrazzo floor. The instinct is to demolish it, and that means noise, debris, skips and days of lost trading. Often it is not necessary. Where the existing tiles are sound and well bonded, we can mechanically prepare the surface and install over them, which avoids the demolition entirely.

The honest qualifier: tiles that are hollow, drummy or lifting have to come up, because nothing bonded to a loose tile will stay down. We tap-test during the inspection and tell you which case you are in before you budget for it, rather than discovering it on day one.

How the free inspection works locally
